Four students, five student organizations and an adviser were honored in the 10th annual NUMAS awards program at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith.

 

The purpose of the NUMAS is to recognize students who have exemplified outstanding student leadership skills within the context of student organizations, as well as to recognize student organizations that have improved campus life.

 

Also awarded during the NUMAS awards program are Chancellor’s Spirit Awards, given to students who excel academically, have an established long-term record of service in leadership and membership roles on campus, have made a significant impact on campus co-curricular life, display a strong sense of school pride and spirit and utilize an ethical leadership style that is an example for others to follow.

 

The Student Government Association gave an SGA Representative of the Year 2013 award.

 

Winners were:

 

Charleston: Robert Moore, SGA Representative of the Year.

 

Fort Smith: Brittany Slamons, NUMAS Award for Adviser of the Year, and Lisa Magallanes, Chancellor’s Spirit Award.

 

Mansfield: Jasmine Hattabaugh, NUMAS Award for Student Leader of the Year, representing the Campus Activities Board, and she also accepted the Legacy Maker Award, given by the Alumni Advisory Council, for the Campus Activities Board for Island Party.

 

Springdale: Austin Baccus, Chancellor’s Spirit Award.

 

Phi Beta Lambda received a NUMAS Award for Outstanding Organization of the Year. The NUMAS award for New Student Organization of the Year went to Students Helping Students Succeed.

 

The Community Service Award, given by the Young Alumni Council, went to the Student Nurses Association. Taking the Intramural All Sports Cup was Sigma Nu Fraternity.
