The College of Business at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith inducted 23 students into Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society in Business, Management and Administration during a ceremony which was followed by an awards dinner recognizing nine students for their academic achievements.

 

Membership in Sigma Beta Delta is the highest international recognition a business student can receive at a college or university with a Sigma Beta Delta chapter. The organization encourages and recognizes scholarship and achievement among students of business, management, and administration.

 

To be eligible for membership, a business student must rank in the upper 20 percent of juniors and seniors. Candidates are invited to membership by the faculty officers. Members are expected to encourage and promote personal and professional improvement and lead a life distinguished by honorable service to humankind.

 

New members included:

 

Alma: William Moon, Michelle Smith and Amanda Waldrop.

 

Cedarville: Morreen Klement.

 

DeQueen: Iliana Deanda.

 

Fayetteville: Colton Clark and Amber Snider.

 

Fort Smith: Emily Carter, Matthew Dillman, Jennifer Garcia, Rikki Hobbs, Kaitlyn Marley, Megan Mastin, Irvin Rodriguez and Jessica Thomas.

 

Hackett: Shawna Balazic.

 

Mansfield: Summer Lang.

 

Mountainburg: Miranda Liggett.

 

Rogers: Alexander Gravelle.

 

Roland: Bradley Andrews and Patricia Harmon.

 

Rudy: Kyle Arnold.

 

Van Buren: Michael Hamilton.

 

Students receiving College of Business awards were:

 

Bentonville: Patrick Sullivan, Outstanding Marketing Graduate.

 

Cedarville: Morreen Klement, Student Leadership Award.

 

Fort Smith: Matthew Dillman, Outstanding Business Administration Major; Samantha Greene, Outstanding Intern; and Syda Xaymongkhoun, Outstanding Accounting Major and Student Leadership Award.

 

Greenwood: Christina Freeman, Academic Excellence in Accounting; and Shayna Gatzke, Academic Excellence in Business Administration and Outstanding Business Administration Graduate.

 

Rogers: Alexander Gravelle, Outstanding Marketing Major.

 

Van Buren: Michael Hamilton, Academic Excellence in Marketing.

 

Keynote speaker for the dinner was Leah Grimm of Muldrow, a UAFS alumna.
