The Homecoming Queen and King at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith are Allie Wilson, 20, of Greenwood and John Sturrock, 21, of Tyler, Texas.

Wilson is a marketing major and is the daughter of Don and Suzy Wilson. Sturrock is an organizational leadership major and is the son of Lance and Caroline Sturrock. Wilson represented Delta Gamma and Sturrock represented Sigma Nu in the competition.

Wilson and Sturrock were selected through a process including UAFS student voting, which was held over a two-day period in the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center, and personal interviews.

Crown bearers were Leon Suzuki, son of Takeo and Antonela Suzuki, and Rachel Settle, daughter of Kevin and Terri Settle.

The king and queen were crowned Nov. 9 at the women’s basketball game between UAFS and West Texas A&M. UAFS Chancellor Paul B. Beran and First Lady Janice Beran participated in the crowning ceremony, which was one of several events slated during homecoming week.

Students and community members were also given the opportunity to participate in -- or watch -- a cheer competition, an all-sports pep rally, a bonfire, a scavenger hunt, a concert for young alumni, a homecoming parade, a graduate bridging ceremony, a book drive, a tailgate party, an alumni reunion dinner, and volleyball and basketball games.
