The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith has postponed final exams beginning at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, through all day Friday, Dec. 6, due to anticipated severe weather in the Fort Smith area.

Finals which were to have taken place on Thursday, Dec. 5, from 11 a.m. forward will be rescheduled to Thursday, Dec. 12. Those which were scheduled for Friday, Dec. 6, are rescheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the same location and times, according to Dr. Ray Wallace, provost and senior vice chancellor.

“This is not ideal, but we don’t want students risking injury trying to get to a final when we can reschedule at a safer time,” said Wallace. “Since Wednesday, Dec. 11, is commencement at UAFS, the academic deans will work with any students who plan to walk in commencement who may have an evening final exam for that night.”

Giving the rescheduling of these finals, The Lion’s Den residence hall will remain open until Thursday, Dec. 12. Meals will be served through lunch on Dec. 12.

Should the entire campus need to close due to this weather, an additional announcement will be made.
