Beginning this fall, the School of Education at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will offer students the opportunity to earn the pre-kindergarten-level, ages 3-4 endorsement online, making UAFS the first university in the state to offer the endorsement completely online.

The endorsement requires 13 credit hours of coursework, and students can add the endorsement to their Arkansas teaching license, allowing them to teach in a preschool classroom.

The endorsement is available for those teaching kindergarten through sixth grade in Arkansas, as well as students admitted in any Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education program across the state.

“We believe that the online option will better serve our students who are currently working in Arkansas public school systems and who may live away from UAFS,” said Melony Francis, director of the Early Childhood Preschool Program in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

The application deadline is Aug. 18. For more information, contact Francis at Melony.Francis@uafs.edu or 479-788-7917.
