The award-winning Scottish band Skerryvore will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. March 28 as part of the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith’s Season at the Blue Lion.

Skerryvore will play at The Blue Lion at UAFS Downtown, located at 101 N. 2nd St. Tickets are $25.

The group will perform a unique fusion of folk, traditional, rock, and Americana that represents the different personalities and upbringings of the eight band members who hail from different regions of Scotland.

“We’re excited to present an act that has twice won Scotland Traditional Music ‘Live Act of the Year’ awards (2011 and 2016) and played with acts like Red Hot Chili Pipers and to bring this unique, global show to the Fort Smith market,” said Stacey Jones, associate vice chancellor for campus and community events.

Formed in 2005, the band boasts a touring history that took them from the remote Isle of Tiree on to international tours that have included performances in Central Park in New York, the Ryder Cup in Louisville, Ky., and China’s Shanghai Expo.

The band is currently on a global tour celebrating the release of their sixth studio album, “EVO.”

The show is part of the university’s Season at The Blue Lion, a lineup of musical performances held at the university’s downtown venue featuring local and nationally recognized musicians.
