How the UAFS Smart Choice Tuition Waiver Works

At the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, we know that transferring to a new university is a big step. The Smart Choice Tuition Waiver delivers the affordability your used to and the flexibility you need to earn a college degree. Here’s everything you need to know about how the program works:

1. Understand the Savings
   • This program helps transfer students reduce tuition costs by waiving:
     
     • UAFS will waive $100 of tuition per credit hour
     • . This waiver will apply for up to 90 total credit hours OR the completion of your degree, whichever comes first. This allows you to focus on completing your degree without unnecessary financial strain.
       • Please note: The Smart Choice Tuition Waiver cannot be combined with other institutional aid from UAFS. However, qualified students can still apply for non-institutional assistance such as Pell Grants, private scholarships, and third-party aid.
         
         
2. Check Your Eligibility
   • To qualify for the Smart Choice Tuition Waiver, you must:
     • Be considered a transfer student
     • Transfer at least 30 earned credit hours from a previous institution
     • Hold a 2.0 GPA or higher at the time of transfer
       • These simple requirements are designed to make this opportunity accessible and achievable.

     • For up to 90 total credit hours

     • Stay enrolled at UAFS
     • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress for your degree path. (SAP will be checked at the end of the spring semester.)
