What is AmeriCorps?

Now Enrolling

RoarCorps is part of EngageAR, Arkansas's AmeriCorps network. Nationwide, more than 1 million AmeriCorps members have served their communities since 1994.

Starting September 2026, 40 RoarCorps members will serve across Sebastian and Crawford Counties to tutor local kids, lead healthy living programs, protect green spaces, and support teen mental health, all while building real-world skills and a resume that stands out.

What RoarCorps Members Do

RoarCorps members support communities across the River Valley through meaningful service opportunities. Members may:

  • Help local elementary students build confidence as readers through daily tutoring.
  • Lead inclusive exercise programs for children with special needs.
  • Run garden workshops that teach families how to grow their own food.
  • Restore native habitats across the River Valley.
  • Mentor local teens as part of Arkansas's first-ever Youth Mental Health Corps cohort.

Small acts. Big roar.

Why Join RoarCorps?

Beyond the feel-good factor of helping your community, RoarCorps members earn a living allowance stipend throughout their term and a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion. This money can be put toward tuition or used to pay down student loans.

Members also receive hands-on training, direct access to UAFS career services, and built-in connections to local employers and graduate programs.

Eligibility

Members must be:

  • At least 18 years old.
  • Able to pass the National Service Criminal History Check.
  • A U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien.

Accommodations are available upon request.
