Lion Voices: Bao Ha

Written By: Kassidy Barnt

Happy Friday, Lions! Our first #LionVoices feature of August is Bao Ha, a senior Organizational Leadership major. Bao was born and raised in Vietnam and serves as Vice President of the Sigma Nu Fraternity, a UAFS Cub Camp chair, a MANE Event Leader, and a member of UAFS Campus Activities Board.
Bao loves the community he has found at UAFS. “From my friends to staff and faculty members I’ve gotten to work with and know pretty well, UAFS has given me some great people and relationships!”
“Each person I’ve gotten to know here at UAFS has impacted me in a way that helped me become the person I am today. From the Chancellor, Dr. Terisa Riley, to all the staff in the UAFS Student Activities Office, to my fraternity brothers, each individual that I’ve met has left a mark on me, supported me, and helped me grow as a person during my time at UAFS. I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for them and I am so thankful for that.”
Bao describes himself as a confident person. He has been able to really find himself in college and the right people to encourage and believe in him as much as he does. “I’ve learned that I’m much more capable than I originally thought and I’ve become confident in my ability to take on all the challenges school and life have to offer.”
He’s excited for Greek Week and Homecoming, he said, but he's most excited for Cub Camp and intramurals through the UAFS Recreation and Wellness Center.
“As an orientation leader as well as an upperclassman, incoming freshmen always ask me how or what is the best way to make friends in college. I always tell them what I wish someone had told me as a freshman - to always be your most authentic self and never be afraid to reach out to others.
“You don’t want to change who you are to try to fit in. UAFS is a community of diverse students who come from all walks of life which means there is someone for everyone on campus. No
matter your interest, background, or personality, there will be someone who can relate to you. As long as you’re willing to put yourself out there, you’ll find friends here at UAFS.”
We couldn’t agree more! If you want to join us at UAFS, the Fall 2021 application deadline is THIS SUNDAY. Apply at https://lions.uafs.edu/apply
