UAFS Organization Joins Local Nonprofit to Ease Finals Week Stress
Written By: Ian Silvester
University of Arkansas – Fort Smith students, faculty, and staff are invited to take
a break from their end-of-the-year stress on Monday, May 1, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30
p.m. on the Campus Green with kittens and puppies. The furry friends will be available
to play and cuddle with, thanks to the UAFS Baha’i Club, in collaboration with the Artemis Project.

The Baha’i Club is a space for students, faculty, and staff of all spiritual backgrounds
and beliefs to enjoy unity in diversity. Baha’i club advisor Dr. Mary Sobhani says
the event reflects the organization’s mission and aims to “bring more ‘happy’ to campus.”

Alex Stringfellow, a senior social work major and volunteer with the Artemis Project,
helped spearhead the event to relieve stress during finals week. “When I got the chance
to propose a UAFS event, of course, I immediately thought of [Artemis Project]! Everybody
likes puppies and kittens. Especially now with finals coming up, UAFS students could
use some puppy time,” said Stringfellow.

The Artemis Project, a local nonprofit organization, will bring puppies and kittens to the event. The
organization is dedicated to rescuing and caring for abandoned and homeless animals
                        in the Fort Smith area.

All UAFS students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend the free event. For more
information on the event, please contact Dr. Mary Sobhani at mary.sobhani@uafs.edu.
