University of Arkansas - Fort Smith students will perform a night of musical theatre at 7:30 p.m. March 5 as part of the university’s Season of Entertainment 34.

The performance, which will take place at the ArcBest Performing Arts Center, will showcase an array of musical numbers from both Broadway musicals and other shows. The production features solos, duets, quartets and ensemble pieces, in addition to samplings of classical music.

Students from Professor George Mann’s vocal performance class will perform in the production, where they have an opportunity to showcase what they’ve learned throughout the semester.

“A show like this hones the performance skills of those in the class beyond simply the technical aspects of singing,” Mann said. “It also addresses a desire of many people in this area who are passionate in their love of musicals, and we hope that this particular class and its presentations will evolve into a springboard for larger-scale musical productions.”

Mann added that the performance will have “incredible entertainment value.”

“These students are among the most talented on campus, and all can have tremendous futures ahead of them,” Mann said. “People attending this concert are supporting the efforts of these students and their dreams and aspirations.”

The show is part of Season of Entertainment 34, a year-long lineup of entertainment sponsored by the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith. The season features a variety of plays, musicals and symphonic performances, including “Stomp” and “Delta-v.”

The ArcBest Performing Arts Center is located at 55 S. 7th St. in Fort Smith. Tickets are $6 and are available by calling the UAFS Box Office at 479-788-7300 or visiting http://uafs.universitytickets.com.
