AzaharesThe ninth edition of “Azahares,” the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith’s annual Spanish literary magazine, is now available.

The magazine includes poetry, digital photography, short fiction and poetic prose pieces, including Marden Ortiz's prose piece ’Ortiz y yo,’ a humorous reflection the nature of human duality; the structured lyricism of Luis Miguel Macías's poetry; and Jesús Sedeño Gutiérrez's digital photography of Mexican urban settings.

Dr. Paul Hankins, dean of the College of Communication, Languages, Arts and Social Sciences, said the magazine was a wonderful celebration of Latino culture.

“‘Azahares’ is an impressive collection of works by a talented group of writers,” Hankins said. “This Department of World Languages publication is a wonderful way to recognize and celebrate creative and literary expression in the Spanish language.”
