Dr. Andrew DeBoer, assistant professor of music, performs during a Music Faculty Showcase concert last year.

The talents of music faculty at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will be on display during the Music Faculty Showcase held at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 30 as part of the university’s Season at The Blue Lion.

The show, which is free and open to the public, will be held at The Blue Lion at UAFS Downtown, located at 101 N. 2nd Street. Tickets are required and can be acquired by contacting the UAFS Box Office at 479-788-7300 or visiting http://tickets.uafs.edu.

The concert will feature professional artist-teachers in the Department of Music at UAFS, who will perform a diverse program of classical and contemporary music, according to Dr. Christopher Barrick, head of the Department of Music.

“It is always a treat for the faculty to take the stage and share their musicianship with their students, the faculty and staff of UAFS, and the greater Fort Smith community,” Barrick said. “And on a personal note, it is truly an honor to share the stage with so many gifted and talented colleagues.”

Judge Jim Spears, a graduate of UAFS when it was Fort Smith Junior College, will serve as the master of ceremonies. A lifelong resident of Fort Smith, Spears has advocated for the arts throughout his life and his 25-year tenure as judge.

For more information about the concert, contact Barrick at 479-788-7547 or christopher.barrick@uafs.edu.
