"Drifting" by Ava Raccaro

You can tell there is something missing.
There is no twinkle left in her eyes.
Her mind drifts on with the snow.

She taps her foot to the beat of the faint music on the radio
as if more tuned into that. She tries
to listen, but you can tell there is something missing.

There is no lust or desire anymore. She used to glow
until icy winds blew in and left her heart to die.
Her mind drifts on with the snow.

She has mastered the art of putting on a show
by trying to focus on the good. But her smile lies.
You can tell there is something missing.

It is now just loosely held hands swinging to and fro,
for she doesn't even feel the warmth that lies
between them. Her mind drifts on with the snow.

His gaze is out the window. Little does he know
that she wishes she was part of the sparkling night sky.
He can tell there is something missing. Her mind drifts on with the snow.
