Issue 36 of Applause: Mythopoesis!

Mythopoesis is myth-making: the creation of the stories we tell ourselves
to make sense of reality, stories that reveal something timeless beneath the surface.
From the classics like The Epic of Gilgamesh, The Odyssey, or Metamorphoses, to
modern myths like Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, and The Avengers, we
understand ourselves through stories, so for this issue, we asked writers to tell us their stories.

What are the modern myths, the creation stories, the ancient ways of
knowing? Applause is thrilled to share their answers with you in this year's issue!

Applause Issue 35 is Officially the Best!

Issue 35 of Applause was named the best online literary magazine by the Southern Literary Festival, and we couldn't be more thrilled! We packed our bags and headed to Chattanooga, TN, where managing editor Ari Long took the stage to accept the award. But this award belongs to every writer who submitted, every reader who clicked, and every person who believed a scrappy undergraduate lit mag could be something worth celebrating. Thank you for making Applause what it is — we're just getting started.
