Mini-Grant Application

Applications Opening Soon

The UAFS Center for Nonprofits is preparing to launch a mini-grant program designed to strengthen nonprofit organizations across the River Valley.

Nonprofit organizations play a vital role in addressing complex social challenges. Many operate with limited financial flexibility, which can make it difficult to invest in long-term improvements, expand services, or test innovative approaches. The Nonprofit Support Endowment was created to help address those gaps.

Once funding cycles open, eligible nonprofit members of the Center for Nonprofits will be invited to apply.

What the Mini-Grants will Support

Mini-grants will provide strategic funding in five priority areas:

Operational Strength

Support for essential organizational needs such as staff training, technology, upgrades, equipment, or systems that improve efficiency and service delivery.

Program Growth

Funding to launch or expand initiatives that address high-priority community challenges, including food insecurity, educational access, workforce readiness, health services, or related needs .

Capacity Building

Investment in leadership development, board governance training, strategic planning, succession planning, and other efforts that strengthen long-term sustainability.

Community Engagement

Projects that deepen relationships between nonprofits and the communities they serve, increase collaboration, and amplify measurable local impact.

Innovation

Pilot programs or creative approaches to persistent challenges that introduce new models, partnerships, or problem-solving strategies.

What We Value in Applications

When the application opens, proposals will be evaluated based on:

  • clear alignment with organizational mission.
  • defined and measurable community impact.
  • financial responsibility and sustainability.
  • demonstrated need.
  • feasibility and readiness to implement.
  • strong leadership and governance practices.

Preference may be given to projects that demonstrate collaboration, long-term benefit, and measurable outcomes.

Mini-Grant Eligibility Requirements
