RSO Categories & Benefits
Registered Student Organizations at UAFS represent a wide range of student interests, academic areas, identities, activities, and leadership opportunities. Each organization is assigned a category that reflects its purpose and role within campus life.
University Organizations
University Organizations include faculty-initiated academic interest groups, faculty/student governing committees, musical organizations, university athletic teams, and theatrical activities directed or chaired by a regular university faculty or staff member.
Membership in a University Organization may be subject to internal requirements and regulations. The faculty or staff advisor is responsible for guiding the organization, and while students may participate in decision-making, final authority may rest with the faculty or staff advisor.
RSO Categories
Academic organizations further students’ knowledge and engagement in relation to their academic pursuits.
Arts organizations promote creative expression and the arts among students at the university.
Cultural organizations promote various cultures, identities, traditions, and cultural differences among students.
Greek Life organizations enhance holistic student development through values-based communities centered on leadership, academics, relationships, and civic engagement.
Honor societies are selective organizations that require a minimum GPA or academic achievement for membership.
Political organizations focus on political development, civic engagement, or support of members’ political interests.
Religious organizations support the spiritual development of members based on religious affiliation, belief, or denomination.
